Not a lot to say about the match as the wind destroyed what could have been a very entertaing match. It must also be said that the pitch was an absolute mess. A Saltcoats player found room on the left before curling a shot towards goal, however Jordan Callaghan got across the goal to turn the ball around the post. A speculative long range effort from a Saltcoats player looked to be going well over until the wind caught it and the shot came crashing back off the bar. Saltcoats attacked again, with the wind behind them, and there striker looked to be in before Callaghan came rushing out and saved the strikers shot with his chest, this was followed by another long range shot that this time went sailing over. Annbank picked up as the half went on realising that with the wind the only way to go was to get the ball down and pass. An Annbank corner fell to the feet of Craig Rodgers but neither he nor James Cuthbertson could get a clean shot in the crowded penalty area. Annbank took the lead soon after, Michael Reilly took a run at the defence and after coming through a few challenges he fired the ball home from the edge of the area. Near the end of the half, the Annbank defence stood up to defend a couple of Saltcoats attacks.
Half Time: Annbank 1-0 Saltcoats
An Annbank corner was played right on top of the keeper who had to tip it over the bar, in an early spell of Annbank pressure. Again, there weren't a lot of chances as the condition of the pitch worsened. It would take a defensive error for the next goal to come a bad header allowed the Saltcoats winger away before he cut inside and laid the ball to Tam McClelland to fire past Callaghan. Annbank went straight onto the attack again confident that they could take all three points. Stuart Milligan played a good ball to the front post where Craig Rodgers met it with a free header but the ball went sailing over the bar. It was another error that gave Annbank's their second. A poor kick out from Saltcoats keeper Lamb went straight to Dwayne Hyslop who beat a couple of defenders before poking the ball past the red faced keeper. A bad pass across the Saltcoats defence allowed Michael O'Connor a change but after turning his marker he fired over the bar. Saltcoats had a couple of chances to score a late equaliser. The first came as there striker was slipped in with a through ball but he fired into the side net. The second came from an error by Callaghan. As the keeper came out to collect a ball on the ground it slipped away from him however the Saltcoats striker fired his shot off the post and then Callaghan made a fine save to deny a second effort going in.
